MINNESOTA MEN’S GYMNASTICS EXTENDS ITS WIN STREAK TO 24 - 0 WITH VICTORIES IN THE EARLY SEGMENT OF THE SEASON
After competing at the Emerge Academy Invite in early January, MMG continued its early dominance through the start of February. The Windy City Invitational in Chicago, the KC Co-Ed Classic in Kansas City, and the John Roethlisberger-Iceberg Invitational in St Paul allowed the Gophers to continue to refine our routines and improve upon early-season inconsistencies.
Coming into the 2025 season, Minnesota was riding high on an unbeaten streak that went all the way back to the first meet of the season in 2024. That season we finished with a 14-0 regular season record before going on to stay undefeated at the Eastern Conference Championships and the National Championships.
Already in 2025, we boast a regular season record of 24 & 0! The taste of victory is sweet upon the lips of this team and the fight to stay undefeated will take on gargantuan proportions as the rest of the GymACT Teams sharpen their sites on taking down the most powerful rodents on the face of the planet - the Minnesota Golden Gophers!!
Some major highlights from the previous week’s meets:
David Grossman’s All-Around victory at the Kansas City meet with a dominant score of 79.20, along with event titles on SR, V, PB, & HB.
Caleb Gurman’s All-Around title at the Roethlisberger-Iceberg Invite with a score of 71.75 and event titles on FX & V.
Paul Acker’s PH event title at the Kansas City meet
Ben Letvin’s SR event title at the Roethlisberger-Iceberg Meet
Justin Lancisi’s HB event title at the Roethlisberger-Iceberg Meet
Three events with a top 3 sweep at the Roethlisberger- Iceberg meet: FX, PB, & HB
Individual Event Titles on FX, SR, V, PB, & HB at the Roethlisberger-Iceberg Meet
A total of 21 Individual Event Titles were won by Minnesota gymnasts in the first 4 weeks of the season.
A total of 47 sticks thus far in the first 4 weeks of the season.
As you can see, Minnesota Men’s Gymnastics has done a masterful job of keeping the standards as high, if not higher, than they were last year.
NEXT MEET IS RIGHT HERE IN MINNEAPOLIS AS WE WELCOME IOWA & NORTHERN ILLINOIS TO TOWN
The Gophers are hosting the MN GymACT Invitational (also known as the Ski-U-Mah Invitational) and it will be held in a very unique venue on February 15, 2025. We found a place called The Luminare, a wedding events center in NE Minneapolis that should prove to be very different from any venue any of us have ever seen a gymnastics competition take place in.
Action will get underway at 6:15 pm on 2/15/25 and the Luminare is located at 770 SE 9th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55414. Parking is available and more info can be found here: https://www.theluminare.com/locationandparking
We’ll also be using this meet as one of our annual fundraisers to bring money into the operations of the program. Any local alumni who have a desire to help out can sign up to help with set up & tear down as well as positions we need filled during the competition. Hope to see as many Gopher fans as possible at the meet!!!!
