MINNESOTA MEN’S GYMNASTICS WINS THEIR 4TH STRAIGHT EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Ft. Lauderdale was the site of the 2025 GymACT Eastern Conference Championships, and the Minnesota Men’s Gymnastics Team was victorious again, making it a string of four straight Conference Titles! Minnesota basically dominated the meet, winning all but one event title on their way to a historic finish.

David Grossman again put on a bit of a clinic by not only winning his second straight Eastern Conference All Around Title (77.15), but he added Gold Medal performances on Floor Exercise (13.35), just edging out Iowa’s Raif Schaffner, who posted a 13.30. Still Rings was another Gold Medal performance by Grossman as he held off the competition with a score of 13.05, just squeaking out the win over Indy-hio’s Duncan Beckel (13.00). Vault went to Minnesota’s Ben Letvin, who continues to fill his trophy case. This time, he edged fellow Minnesotan Caleb Gurman (13.9) with a score of 14.00. The final two events, Parallel Bars (13.75) and High Bar (13.35,) also went to Minnesota’s David Grossman as he hauled in five of the seven possible Gold Medals.

The All-Around Silver Medal went to Vice-Champion Ben Letvin (75.90) of Minnesota, making it a 1-2 sweep of the All-Around. Minnesota’s Joseph Pennell was also entered in the All-Around and had his highest scoring effort of the season, finishing in 5th place with a score of 70.55.

Jack Gagamov also made two podium appearances, with a third-place Medal on Pommel Horse (12.15) and a second-place performance on High Bar (12.90), right behind teammate David Grossman.

“To say we dominated the field would be an understatement with the amount of hardware we brought home, but I gotta tell you, the other teams in the Eastern Conference are coming after us, and we had enough mistakes tonight that it might have happened,’ said head coach Mike Burns.

While there were a handful of mistakes, the eventual outcome in the Team Standing really wasn’t in jeopardy as Minnesota posted its third straight score above 300 in the meet. Here are the final Team Results:

  1. Minnesota  — 300.75

  2. Indy-hio— 295.80

  3. Iowa  — 290.45

  4. Temple— 285.05

  5. New York  — 281.50

  6. NIU— 276.00

  7. Florida— 272.30

  8. Georgia— 265.75

Minnesota will be on its quest to defend its National Team Title, but the road will be full of challengers, especially the Sun Devils of Arizona State. It should be another epic battle in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City.
